Hi Trish

Since when are vitamins more dangerous than prescription drugs? There has
never been a documented case of anyone dying from an overdose of any
vitamins and the only vitamins that are known to cause problems at high
doses are the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K. B6 has caused nerve problems
at high doses. Iron can be dangerous at high levels but since we are eating
all this red meat (most of us anyway) we would have no need to supplement
with iron. I would agree that many herbs can have unwanted side effects but
maintain they are still much safer than most prescription drugs which kill
many thousands each year with unintended consequences or interactions with
other drugs.

Mark

All I can I can add to this is, if someone is going to treating
themselves with herbs, minerals, vitamins, etc, remember that they are
just as dangerous as drugs or prescriptions. Just because it is derived
from an herb does not deem it safe. Most prescription drugs start out in
a an animal, vegetable, mineral state before they are stepped down into a
drug. An example, meletonin, ma huang, and kava kava can not be taken by
people with thyroid problems. Probably among many others.
