Thanks Yui ...changing the spool setting to NON bidirectional printing got
the printer working across the network. Now if I just need to figure out
why this high speed Bidirectional ISA add in Port isn't recognized as
such.The 486 BIOS is dated 1992 but Bidirectional ports have been around
since the late 80s so it shouldn't be a problem. Lack of Bidirectional
printing doesn't affect the print qualify but it does effect the speed and
some of the convenience features. The only one that matters to me is that I
can not set my own default  values such as paper type ..print quality....
without Bidirectional printing I will have to specify this each time I
print something.

    You may need to check your Spool Settings.
