I'm on the board of a library in Manhattan on East 79th Street (limestone
facade,1918, designed by Trowbridge & Livingston as a private house,
converted to a library 1937). We need a new sidewalk, and I realized I
wanted to make sure we got a really good sidewalk, instead of the crud I
often see.
But then I realized I didn't know the answer to this question: What is a
really good sidewalk. Outside of bubble gum, any ideas?

(PS Ralph: don't worry - we're leaving room for planting beds for the ivy.)
