Hi there...

   By chance... are you running a winmodem? I have seen this many time, but
not to the degree you are experiencing. It seems that when first connecting
to the medem and unconnecting when finished, the mouse has a momentary
"freeze", but usually comes back in a second or two. I'm not bashing
winmodems, I use one myself... and I experience this momentary freeze
myself. But you seem to have a more drastic problem.
