Roberto,

A print server is used on a local area network (LAN) and it acts like a
traffic cop controlling the flow of all print requests for a printer (or
several printers). On a small network, it could just be a side job running
on one of the network computers but on a large network, it is usually a
computer that is dedicated to performing only this one job -- control the
flow of print jobs for all the printers connected to the server.
