Yes, you have to start your computer in safe mode to delete the IDE
controller from the device manager. If you do it in normal mode, this
is the result.

I'm confused by this statement. Do you mean it is adding a SECOND
secondary IDE controller so that you have TWO listed in addition to the
primary IDE controller or do you mean that it is just adding a secondary
IDE controller? If the latter, this sounds normal.
