I found that general low-carb diet cured my gum problems, which
were of long standing. I lost several molars due to chronic gum
inflammation. I believe that the reason is the
inflammation-supporting nature of the eicosanoid balance produced
by a high-carb diet, as described by Sears, Eades, and others.
I believe dental problems are still possible on a paleodiet, as a
result of decomposition of pieces of meat and vegetation trapped
between teeth. I recall that the jaws of some very ancient human
skulls showed abcesses, for example.
