Hello Cavepeople,
Several weeks ago, we had some discussions as to why I was gaining fat on
lowcarb paleo, whilst still eating below maintenance calories but well
above starvation levels. After some head scratching, I withdrew and began
to experiment. After experimentation, I realized that the key for me was
small amounts of dairy.
Essentially, I am now following a modified paleo-lowcarb diet. The
modification is that every morning I have one ounce of cheese and 1/2
tablespoon of butter with my eggs. As a result of this, I am happy to say
that my pants are now beginning to fit a bit better and I am still getting
stronger at the lifting (slow steady progress). The curious fat gain has
indeed been reversed.
It was actually Todd Moody who clued me to the possible link to a need for
dairy in my system (ALA's and such). Thanks for the hint Todd! :-)
Ray, I would be very interested to hear if have you any comments on this?
