Is it possible to drive an old X-terminal monitor with a PC video card?

The monitor is an HP model A1097C with the red-green-blue bnc plugs. The
video card has an S3 764 chip with 1MB of memory. Is this doable or am I
wasting my time? I've tried all the refresh rate settings from 56 to 75 and
the hardware default settings.

Thanks,
Klaus Bieber
