    The only "Diamond SupraMax 56k V.90" modems I have seen have been both
PCI **AND** HCF/HST.  I actually installed (and promptly un-installed, two
hours later) one of these monstrosities 2 days ago. I had to yank it out b/c
I couldn't maintain connections with my ISP, and frequently couldn't connect
at all. My friend, however, has one at his home, and has installed several
throughout his office's network, and he's in love with them.

    This is absolutely not true. My first 14.4 modem, from Zoom, back in the
day, was Rockwell RPI, meaning HST/HCF/processor dependent. It was ISA.
