Wow!  May I lead the applause for Sharon Marcus' prompt and thorough summary
of replies to her query about cheating children!  I think there's a lot of
food for thought there (sorry about the pun), especially the issue about
trying to explain to young children (and many adults!) "long term"
consequences.  That's a problem with many useful values we try to instill in
children, and with CD or any illness of this type, it can be even more
problematic.

I was going to suggest the Bandaids and Blackboards website, too, for
teasing and peer pressure perspectives, and just realized that's the website
Sharon listed.  It's an excellent site, and owner Joan Fleitas welcomes the
children to post their stories.  My little boy Chris has his own page there
and, and was (and may still be) the only CD kid on the site at this time.
She lets them pretty much design their pages -- Chris clearly likes
airplanes! Anyway, maybe some of the other CEL-KIDS kids would like to
contribute their stories too.  I tend to think if the kids have their own
special group of "peers" -- even if they're only online peers -- the
pressure to conform to eating *well* might become stronger than  -- or at
least equal to - the pressure to conform to eating stuff that makes them
sick.

Any thoughts on the kids having their own list, moderated through the
parents or Cel-Kids, if the owner likes the idea?  Or at least a board where
they can post thoughts, recipes or snacks they like and art?  There's a new
Visto site that allows special interest groups to set up something like a
clubhouse, or a big bulletin board.  I'll be happy to look into it further
if anyone is interested.
