Hi all,

I have to admit that we dont all eat gluten free, not even close. We may
have things a bit easier than many of you because our son who has celiac also
has Down syndrome. Brandon is almost 11 and was diagnosed about 5 years ago.
He was given a g-tube so we could pump alot of extra calories into him right
away, he was only 25 pounds and into muscle wasting. Last year the feeding
tube was removed and he is doing fine. He has pretty much always stuck to
only the foods that are given to him and the school makes terrific gluten
free lunches for him. In case any of you didn't know, the public schools
HAVE to provide gluten free meals for the children at no additional cost.

My biggest problem seems to be not providing a variety of foods for him, he
seems to live on rice cakes with ragu and cheese on them. Of course that's
not all he eats but that's all he seems to want to eat! I'm not much of a
cook and there are no health food stores where we live so I am kind of
limited to the few grocery store items that I know are GF, but again that's
not very many either.

Our daughter, Priya, who is 21 months will be tested in about 6 months. So
far she has no symptoms but she also has Down syndrome and celiac is very
common with Down's, much more so than the normal population.
