I agree with Dianne about wanting to see more traffic on the list.  Part of
the problem is, indeed, a time crunch.  I also think a more open format
would be helpful. And the chats are held kind of late.   But at any rate,
I'm enjoying hearing about the various restaurants and I'm finding all the
information very useful.

We don't eat out a lot, but seem to have pretty good success wherever we go
by just ordering either a plain hamburger and veggies, or a regular light
adult meal for our six year old celiac(who can really put it away!). The
Cooker, here, has lovely children's meals.  I don't know how far-flung the
chain is, but kids meals are pretty much just scaled down versions of adult
meals.  The best part is they offer kids a selection of side dishes instead
of the standard fries.  They can get rice pilaf, which my son likes, or
steamed veggies, or baked apples.  It's really nice.

We live near WDW and although we haven't been there lately (the cost of
admission is kind of discouraging for a family of five!), we didn't have
much problem there either.  We did pack in a lot of food for snacks for our
son, but for breakfasts, we typically did the breakfast bars and (after
checking with the manager on a few details) would usually get Chris eggs,
fruit, and supplement that with some approved cereal we would bring in.
Lunch we'd either prepare ourselves, with foraging kind of stuff like more
fruit (dried or fresh), raw veggies, nuts, etc.. And dinner would usually be
a grilled chicken or lean meat, veggies, rice dishes and so forth.  I'd
rather work around what's available than haul a lot of stuff around, myself.
And if you stay with lightly grilled, steamed, or fresh foods, there's
usually no problem.

I agree with Sharon that it's good for kids to learn to adapt. Chris, even
at six, is pretty flexible and he doesn't have a problem if, when we're out,
others are eating something he can't have.  I just try to have something
special for him later, if possible, like his GF cookies for a snack at the
hotel or something.
