This evening, at the conclusion of a meeting lasting over five hours, I
was appointed Washtenaw County Commissioner, to fill the remainder of an
unexpired term (to 12/31/2000) caused by a resignation.

I am also a candidate for the full two-year term of the same position
(years 2001-02), and I'm unopposed both in the August 2000 primary and
November 2000 general election. This is in the 4th District, which is in
the southwest part of Ann Arbor.

Washtenaw County as a whole has a population about 300,000 in 710 square
miles, including the cities of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
