Re: "Anybody know whether HABS/HAER still do hand drawings?"

Yes, Virginia there is hand drafting. Every year HABS/HAER awards the
Peterson Prize, actually a series of awards and prizes to outstanding work,
by hand or computer. The smaller jobs with non-repetative elements are
usually the centerpiece.

In my opinion, if you can't draw with your hands, you're not likely to do
much better with CAD. No graphic sense, a waste of time and tools...CAD
Potatoes more enamoured with realities more virtual than tangible.

However, not to recall the days when you were expected to bring in a small
bag of coal as your contribution to the company stove while "Draughtsmen
are expected to whittle their own nibs."
