Borescopes will typically only see clearly about 12-18" out from the tip. You can sometimes see a little detail up to 4-5' but only if the borescope is in good condition and all the light fibres are working.

Don't crack the wall open. Much easier to coredrill a 2-3" hole to put a decent light source in if you have to. Breaking open the wall is a real pain to do.

Cheers

PS As per my earlier response ... I have scope and will travel ... but unfortunately, only if you're paying!

Re: Mascaro's, "Wow - here's one right up my alley."

I'm looking for a "Have scope, will travel." But I'm not sure how far out
the minimal amount of light will "see"...2 feet? 10 feet? If I have to
drill another hole to insert a stronger light, perhaps I should go ahead
and crack the wall open. (It's not an exposed wall.)

I did get the name of one who rents scopes, though...VIT in Flanders, NJ.

And I've learned it's boresocpe not boroscope (unless you're just looking
for specific chemical salts) nor a borrowscope (unless you return it
without paying for it).
