Per Via & Diamond instructions, do in order:
-set to standard VGA display driver
-swap to Viper 770
-load Direct X (6.1a)
-load Diamond drivers for Viper 770 (do NOT load in-control tools until the
system works)
-load 4-in-1 (IRQ should have been loaded before video swap, IDE not used in
Windows98, do not use Win95 with Via chipset mobo)...load Viagart (AGP) in
NORMAL mode.

Did you catch that? Do not use Windows 95 with Via Apollo MVP3 chipset!

*Money better spent using 8MB Riva card and saving for a K7-Athlon system?
*Reboot between each operation
*Shut down all but Explorer and Systray with CTRL-ALT-DEL before any load
*BIOS should be set to AGP, Aperture=(1/2 RAM up to 64MB), 2x enabled.
*Use Viper770 drivers from diamondmm.com site (the CD that came with your
card has buggy out-of-date drivers).
*DO NOT "play" with the computer (test games, et. al.) until all above are
loaded and working.
*Jim is right, load one new piece at a time if possible or reformat your
hard drive and go from scratch.
