Perhaps it is an indication of what we/they consider to be necessary now, as
well. I recall a certain amount of pride that, while attending RISD in the
late 60's I was able to fit all of my posessions in a back-pack. When I took
off for parts unknown after school, it all went with me. There were many
wealthy associates there who did the same.

To make money and defray tuition, I was able to work in the kitchen of the
school cafeteria (they called it refectory) where I learned as much as I did
in classes. I can cook up a great New England clam chowder for 400 at the
drop of a hat.
