Sorry, you'll have to read the paper. I don't really know where the calcium
comes from in Eaton, Eaton and Konner's calculations. I personally think
that osteoporosis is best explained by excessive salt, caffeine, inadequate
sunlight (vitamin D) and exercise. I think the Western RDA is pushed by the
dairy industry. It is true that you need that much calcium if you take salt
& caffeine, have no sunlight, don't exercise. Rather than esting more
calcium, the health autthorities should push for salt warnings on foods. The
