If this so-called "malevolent" "old-testament" G-d was losing so much
support and compliance, one would think that His constituency would
have completely dried up and vanished by now...  Perhaps He isn't so
"malevolent" after all.

I think this topic (and ones like it) needs to go shopping for a new
list - one on which it's acceptable to make veiled disparaging remarks
about the spiritual beliefs of others.  On *this* list, however, we
discuss the Paleolithic diet and how it can be followed by people of
*all* backgrounds and beliefs - who come together here to share our
collective knowledge about health and nutrition, offer one another
support.
