Hello again. I just wanted to report that I succeeded in getting the
computer to recognize the hard drive. It was a combination of several
settings in the Advance section of BIOS that enabled the IDE connectors on
the motherboard, and (and I swear I swapped this back and forth several
times) I swapped the cable at the hard drive so that it now is really in the
right way. Now the problem is getting it to recognize the CD-ROM. I tried it
with the Win 98 startup disk, and it loaded up the drivers this time
(previously it would say it found no device and would skip past the CD-ROM
driver load. So I am getting closer.
