Hi, I'm currently doing it with cellular service and a acoustic
coupler.
That's a old way of doing it, but it works. Nowadays, some high-end
cell phones have a jack to eliminate the coupler. And Windows can be
setup to ignore the lack of dial-tone when placing calls thru the cell
phone. You can get cellular ready modems and software to make the task
simpler yet.
Bottom line - the cell phone you use will make the biggest difference
in determining if you need additional peripherals or software. I would
start by speaking with a major name cellular agent.
By the way, internet connections via analog cellular is limited between
2.4k and 14.4k because of the extra A/D conversions. I've been told
digital cellular will net 14.4k. I use my service primarily for e-mail.
