Same thing happened to me. A new mother board and chip solved the problem.
You are on the right track. If you have an extra cpu hanging around you
could try putting that in and trying to boot. If that doesn't help, it is
the mother board.

my computer will not complete a POST. I do not receive any beeps or error
messages, just a blank screen. I began testing individual components,
including removing the video card. After I removed the card (no video card
is now in the computer) I rebooted and still did not receive any error
beeps. Does this definitely mean the mobo is broken, or might there be
other explanations for this?
