What is the Zip 250 Performance when writing to Zip 100 Media?
When writing to a Zip 100MB Media disk using a Zip 250 drive, the
performance is noticeably slower
than when writing to a Zip 250MB media.
How much slower is the drive?
The Zip 250 parallel port drive and SCSI drive are approximately 60%
slower writing to a 100MB disk
on the 250MB drive then it is to write to a 250MB disk in a 250 drive. See
the specifications below:
Parallel Port Interface.
.3MB/sec read on a 100MB disk
.14MB /sec write on a 100MB disk
.3MB /sec read on a 250MB disk
.3MB /sec read on a 250MB disk
SCSI.
1.7MB /sec read on a 100MB disk
.2MB /sec write on a 100MB disk
1.7MB /sec read on a 250MB disk
1.7MB /sec write on a 250MB disk
As you can see, writing to a 100MB disk is about 8 times slower.
