I'm not knowledgeable about HP printers, I have an Epson. But I was
thinking that what basics work for an Epson just might work for your HP.
This comes, in 4 jumps, from an Epson exec:
To refill the color ink cartridge, buy "DESIGN Higgins" fadeproof artists
color drawing ink, at your local art supplies store.
You need Magenta, item #44665; Lemon, item #44625; Turquoise, item
#44109.
Then you simply refill the ink cartridge with the correct color, in the
correct chamber, and your done.
No kit required, and the ink doesn't run if it should get wet.
I don't know if this works for black, but I don't see why it wouldn't.
My input: I run the printer utilities from time to time to clean the jets,
and heads, just to be sure everything is working.
Good luck,
Gary Perkins
