You're right in mentioning that "real world performance" is not affected much
with these new CPUs.
The fact is, under normal conditions there always is some free CPU
time [like working in Word - you'll have a lot of it; also surfing],
so the difference won't be very noticeable, but if you're doing
some really hard CPU work, like play Quake in ultra-hires (some
1024*768*32], your CPU will be 100% busy, and then your Winmodem could
do all sorts of unpleasant things.
