Trevor,

HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE are still available for use in Win9x. Along
with HIGH and UMB you should be able to have over 700 kb available for
use by device drivers.
Since other DOS 6 commands such as IFSHLP and LASTDRIVE are still
initiated by MSDOS.SYS and IO.SYS. A simple but adaquate config.sys is
as follows:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS ;REM /v will provide verbose information
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS ;REM v will provide verbose
information
DOS=HIGH,UMB

Add the rest of your entries using the DEVICEHIGH statment in your
config.sys and LOADHIGH in your autoexec.bat.
