Hi, I actually have both models in the field.
Here's my troubleshooting sequence for these:
1.) power up printer while disconnected from pc and verify
printing capability. The C.ITOH you can hold the select
key for 3 sec.s. The Panasonic has a simple menu on the
control panel - it doesn't matter what you print, just verify.
2.) next connect printer & pc together while unplugged, else
you could loose the I/O or worse if your printer is slow to
bleed the circuits.
**3.) verify printers show "on-line" or ready condition.
4.) now boot up the pc and install print drivers. Both models
are supported by Win98 2nd edition so, use the win98
drivers - this is easier for troubleshooting.
5.) by now you should be printing a test page.
6.) if your still having trouble - are the printers showing on-line ?
does the 4420 have a flashing L.E.D. indicating recieving ?
do you have more than one printer port ?
record the specifics of what's happening if it still doesn't
work.
7.) if necessary I can help you with more advanced troubleshooting
right down to the circuit.
good luck -yui shin
