I don't think so. I have an HP 8100 CD-RW and an Acer 32x CD-ROM along with
a couple of 13GB drives in my system. It's also got dual VoodooII's, an STB
TNT card, Sound Blaster Live, Intell 100Mb NIC, Joystick controller and a
generic ISA SCSI controller, as well as several USB things. No power
problems.
Ditto for one of the Linux systems in the NOSPIN NOC. It is all SCSI with
an HP 4020i CD-R, a Plextor 20x CD-ROM and two Seagate 4GB hard drives,
along with AGP video, 3Com NIC and a Sound Blaster 128.
I did have problems with the HP 8100 and a Kenwood True-40x CD-ROM drive.
The HP drive would not work when it was on the same IDE channel as the
Kenwood.
