Hi friends!

Unless you have no contact with the outside world, you're probably aware of
the recent virus attacks that have been propogated by email.

We've always been concerned about maintaining your security when you use the
mailing lists and that's one of the reasons why we don't allow email
attachments.  We have been flexible with vCards, the little attachments that
many email programs can send, that contain information about the sender of
the email, but in light of the sort of virus attacks that are occuring now,
we have changed our policy.

Effective immediately, we will reject postings that contain vCard
attachments.  While we don't know of any case where a vCard attachment has
carried a computer virus, we just aren't willing to take the chance of
compromising your computers' security.    In order to make things a little
easier, here are instructions for disabling vCard attachments:

(These instructions are based upon Netscape Communicator 4.6)

Click on Edit, then Preferences.  Under Mail & Newsgroups, select Identity.
At the bottom of the Identity window, deselect the option "Attach my
personal card to mesages (as a vCard)".

Click on OK and your configuration will be saved.

(These instructions are based upon Microsoft Outlook 2000...other Outlooks
(including Outlook Express) should be similar)

Click on Tools, then Options.  Select the Mail Format tab.  Under
Signatures, select Signature Picker.  If a signature is listed, highlight it
and click on Edit.  Under "Attach this business card to this signature",
select <None>.  You may need to repeat this for other signatures in your
list.

Click on OK (several times) and your configuration will be saved.

From a personal point of view, I believe that this makes good sense if only
because the vCard can send personal information about you that you may not
want others to see.
