I had a nice Virginia Creeper growing up the side of the house that I had
been tending to since we moved in 9 yrs. ago. I realize it was not wysteria
or something exotic but it was one of the few growths on LI that reminded me
of the Upstate NY woods. Recently a man hired to do lawn work cut the 1/2"
diameter trunk through. Yuk. My sense of power is thwarted because the stuff
does not pull off the aluminum siding of the house all that well -- a
different sort of historic recreation. I'd send the old man up but I'm afraid
he would either get tangled in the electric feed or fall off the ladder. He
also keeps doing a job on the wild roses I've been trying to cultivate. The
second time he was over he mowed down the violets I parked the car over to
protect the first time he was over. And I dread if he gets loose on teh
azaleas. A good leaf raker, I know he means well. I'm always confounded how
he can work in the yard past sunset. Price is good.
