i agree with your brother.  i don't think there will be, either (famous last
words!)
but, to be on the safe side, i think i'll try to have lots of jerky,
pemmican (if i can get the hang of making it), nuts, dried fruits on hand.
meat will be OK, since this will be in the middle of winter, we can just
leave it on the back porch to keep cold.  could cook it on the woodstove in
the cellar.
i have a friend who is planning on setting up a kids' pool in his basement,
to have plenty of water.
