I'm still tinkering with an Amptron 9900a/PcChips577,
AMD K6-2/400 CPU, PC66SDRAM, Win95b, and
an old (perfect) WD 540M HD -- (11ms/125k).
The MB has a VIA VT82C598AT Apollo MVP3 chip,
and a VT82C586B Apollo chip.
I'm beginning to think the hard drive is too slow.
The mother board manual was written before the BIOS was
flashed to support my CPU (and even a step higher + K3...).
Does this sound like a "dumb" combination to anybody?
Could the hard drive be "THE" bottleneck I have been
fighting all along? I tried (twice) PNY PC100SDRAM with no
luck. Thanks in advance for your input.
