Hello digesters
Whilst formatting recently(which seems to be a habit of mine to fix
problems) I noticed the message "Trying to recover allocation unit"
with a number/s after it. What does this message mean. Does it mean the
HD is on the way out? Its a 2 1/2 year old Quantum Bigfoot. I also have
an 8.4 gb on my other computer which I formatted at the exact same time
& it didnt show any recovering allocation units & was also faster to
format by a few secs. I also tried to convert to FAT 32 thru Win98 but
it said it couldnt with errors on it. Scan disk doesnt show any
problems. I can convert with Partition Magic 3.03 without any problems.
Whats this low level format & would that help me. Thanks for a great
digest.
