Bobby: I don't have Showtime, but I could have sworn I've seen a documentary
similar to what you describe. You said, "I thought it brought out how
different
subgroups discriminate between one another. What do you think?"

Gee, I thought it was common knowledge, that those who live outside the
dominate majority discriminate within the minority. I remember when I first
realized this. In college and my room-mate was African American. One night
we were talking and this very subject came up. It seemed that the
African-American students discrimated within their own groups. Light-skinned
agaisnt dark-skinned. It was too weird. I didn't understand then, but at
the time I was 17. Now I realize no matter what, human beings are strange
creatures. All we can do is try to live by the golden rule and do unto
others. If we don't want to be discriminated against, we must monitor and
police ourselves within the minority. This goes for all minorites. If the
minority groups could stop the infighting long and unite, the dominate
majority would not have the control and influence it does. I wouldn't
arrogently suggest I know how to fix socieity. I just do my part and try to
live by my convictions. I'm not always successful. I do find myself
back-sliding and falling into a discriminatory state of mind. When I do, I
shake it off, and start again. Try my best to be a non-judgemental person
who doesn't make snap judgments of others based on appearance or preconceived
ideaologies. Well- that's my 2 cents, even if my comments weren't exactly in
the ball park of what you were asking. Take Care - Denise.
