Has anyone seen the movie OCTOBER SKY? It's about a group of
West Virginia high school boys during the '50s. They live in a
mining town. One boy, Sonny, has a dream to build rockets. And
he and his friends do. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm reading
the book. It is wonderful, mainly because it is about pursuing a
dream -- and also because one of the "rocket boys," as they r
called, is disabled. His name is Sherman and he has a very weak
leg from polio. He limps badly but is smart and the girls like
him. He is an integral part of the "rocket boy" team.
If you've seen the movie, tell me how Sherman is portrayed. I
will see the film after I finish the book, which is absolutely
fabulous.
