BP Explosives
Well, BP'rs, we have been challenged if the old codgers have any bang left.
With permission of the esteemed author I forward the following.
All scientific results are expected to be posted on BP.
I have read your guys' email about m-80's
and such... all quite wonderful, but apparently your
recipes have gotten a little dusty...
Oliver's purple flame "smoke bomb"
add two parts sugar to one part
potassium nitrate in an old soup can.
place several model rocket
igniters in the mixture and ignite.
It will shoot out a large purple
flame and an extremely thick smoke;
enough to cover a city block.
by the way...
It will melt the can.
Now for the potassium pemaganate.
(that stuff also cures trench foot.)
Oliver's contact explosive
get a small glass jar.
put a little bit of gasoline
inside and shake it, to effectively
cover the walls of the jar.
Let the gasoline evaporate
inside the jar by setting
it in the sun for a while.
open the jar just enough
to put your drop of potassium
permaganate in (from an
eye dropper) and then
quickly close it. If you
chance to throw this jar
against a wall hard enough
to break the jar, a fireball
proportionate to the size of
the jar will seemingly magically
appear.
Have fun and don't lose any fingers!
