While I've said it before itself doesn't make you a better or worse person I
think one thing that has been lost in this threads is that walking has many
health benefits.  It helps; circulation, cardio-fitness, digestive, and
bearing weight makes strong bones.  These are all reasons why as parents we
do what we can to help make walking a possibility for our kids.
