I'd be glad to chat with him.
As to the wiring: there is a detachable node in the side of the battery at
the back of the chair. I guess the other exposed components are at human
mercy as they can't yell "ouch" when pulled. Good advice about labeling.
I'll be on my own, fortunately not flying United.

Subject: Travel with Electric Wheels
I have heard horror stories recently about travelling with a power chair
including wiring up after the flight that wrecked the chair and the
airline won't pay for the damage. Apparanetly this happens alot with a
large airline - United Airlines. I stongly suggest that you get someone
to label the battery wiring so that it is obvious. If you would like to
talk to a power chair user who flies all the time let me know and I'll
ask him if I can give you his email address.
