I have had problems with large drives being recognized in older Compaqs.  Make
sure you are using the latest system flash rom.  Compaq tends to fix it in later
roms.  If not, go into setup and manually configure the drive settings.  If the
drive is listed as having over 15 heads I've had luck reconfiguring it to 15
heads and more cylinders.  The drive translates anyway.
