The V.90 is the current standard which replaced both the
K56 Flex and the x2 standards for 56k modems.
The real issue is justifying the higher cost and determining
if your ISP supports the V.90 standard.
As I recall, you mentioned your phone company would not
rate your local phone lines for modem use. So, in your case I would simply
try the 2 modems you have and go with the
one that works the best. As opposed to making an expensive
purchase you may not even benefit from.
