Sept 1, 1999 issue of PC MAGAZINE has an article reviewing flat bed
scanners, you may be able to view the article at <www.pcmag.com>.

The editors choice was the Epson Perfection 636U street price of $230.
This was the fastest scanner reviewed (excellent), and rated no. 1 of 18
for gray scale printout. The other editors choice was the Visioneer One
Touch 7600 with a street price of $130. It was ranked 11 of 18 for gray
scale printout and the speed was ranked as good.

Based on this article I bought an Agfa SnapScan 1212U for $83. from
buy.com. This scanner was given a street price of $130. and the gray
scale print rating was 3 of 18, and the speed was rated as fair. I use this
scanner in my home and have been very satisfied with it. It has a USB
connection and the set-up was a breeze.

All the above scanners are rated 600 by 1200 dpi resolution. If I can be of
further help, e-mail me.
