Hi Folks,
Have a processor temp question.
Have a dual PIII 500 machine using a Tyan Thunderbolt motherboard in a big
tower case with four inlet fans and three exhaust fans (including power
supply). Bios reports CPU temp of around 55-60oC for both processors. These
are boxed, retail CPU's with the factory heats sinks and fans.
Went to the intel site and they list specifications for various temperatures
around the CPU:
Tjunction max is 90oC - according to intel this is where the temp diode is
located.
Tcover max is listed at 75oC
Tplate max is listed at 70oC.
Question? Which junction is the bios temp reporting?
55-60 C seems high, but if spec allows up to 90 C, then this isn't too bad.
I can add an additional fan to blow across both procssors if necessary.
Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.
cheers,
db
