I purchased an HP Pavilion 8175 about 2 years ago and have recently
replaced the motherboard with an AOpen AX6Bc with a Celeron 400 CPU. I
was attempting to get rid of a behavior I thought was due to the
motherboard, but I am now having doubts. I get a video signal only
EVERY OTHER time I turn it on. To clarify: I turn it on, the HD starts
to boot up, check my CD-Drives for a bootable disks, etc, but my monitor
never gets a signal. I hold the switch in for several seconds,
everything goes off. I immediately turn it back on and it boots up with
no problem. I thought also that it might be video related, but I
replaced my (primary) video card when I replaced the MB/CPU. The only
components present in both instances are the SCSI card, modem, and STB
Voodoo 2 board. Is it my switch? Can it be replaced, or should I get
another case? Any help/comments greatly appreciated...
