Your operating system probably still had a line in the config.sys and/or
autoexec.bat that pointing to the old sound/controller card.  If this isn't
the case, it is also possible that Windows95 doesn't have the updated
drivers for your chipset and/or bus mastering.

I've seen lost and found and disabled devices stabilize after either
installing all available support software from the board mfg.. or by simply
installing Windows98... uh oh... I hope I don't start a wild thread with
that one!  <grin>
