If I've understood my local IT people correctly, cable runs (NIC to hub,
switch to hub, etc.)
for 100 mbps networks should not exceed 50 meters (half the spec for
10Base-T Ethernet) without repeaters. Is it possible that your
intermittent signal could be caused by a run that
is too long?
