From reading the Cyrix website, it appears that the eeprom chip needs
to be replaced after a real BIOS virus attack. The PC will not boot far
enough to allow you to re-flash the damaged chip. Yes, you can have
spares, since you could purchase, flash, and remove as many as you
thought you needed. It is possible to backup the BIOS from most PCs.
You still need a way to restore the backup, which not all BIOS provide.
It would not work in this case, however, since you need to boot before
you can restore (catch 22).

Hello,
If you did indeed contact this virus and it did disable your computer,
how would you correct the problem
if you could not boot your computer. Would you need to replace the BIOS
chip? Is it possible to backup your BIOS? And finally can one purchase
"Spare" BIOS chips?
