Hi, Lynda,

Catching up on email, I saw 2 people who mentioned chest pain.
Whether you are celiac or not, this AND the shortness of breath could
be a signal of heart disease. Nausea, neck and back discomfort can
also be warning signs of a heart attack or angina.

You should have this checked out pronto. If the urgent care Dr did
not do an electrocardiogram, I am shocked, frankly. You could have
been having a heart attack, possibly caused by the stress of the
gluten attack, and it could have been fatal. But even non-celiacs
with angina frequently have their symptoms after eating, as well as
during stress or after exertion. Maybe it was not heart trouble, but
it certainly would be much better to be sure.

Not a doctor, just a concerned fellow lister who has read a lot of
medical histories for a living and has a Mom with severe angina.

Good luck and good health!

I recently had a bad gluten accident ....Symptoms included: severe nausea,
severe diarrhea, achiness in neck and back and a low grade fever.... Then
the chest pain started. I attributed this to the stress and strain from
vomiting so violently. The Dr. at the urgent care thought that I had
aspirated some of the fluids, and felt that this was the problem. She put me
on antibiotics. The pain and chest tightness lasted two days....
