The HP9000 line is alive and well (I hope ... we just took
delivery on a new system). There may be older models that HP
no longer supports though.
We have HP9000 k200s & k260s that are full size cabinet
mounted systems. There should be a data plate somewhere that
would tell you the full model number (ie HP9000 Model k260).
[educated guessing ahead] You *should* be able to run most
flavors of Unix, otherwise you may need to stick with HP/UX
