I'm trying to come up with an optimum configuration for a PC to be used for
data acquisition in a multi-place test environment.  We are currently
running a standard desktop 486 with the necessary dac cards and data loggers
attached.  This system, although moderately adequate, is quickly becoming
overtaxed as we add new test stations.  My question is what type of
architecture should I consider to handle the massive quantities of data that
need to be recorded from multiple, simultaneous, data-generating tests.  I'm
thinking high end Pentium class, Ultra-Ultra SCSI hard drives (1 system, 1
data) to prevent bottlenecking, wide open case, etc.  Any input for setting
up the perfect system would be appreciated.
